Dr. Sapna Shah-Haque, Board-Certified Internist is one of my closest friends who has lived thru many dark nights of the soul and found her passion creating The Worthy Physician Podcast. To help physicians share their story about burnout, overwhelm, mistreatment, and moral injury.

She shares her story about how much stress from medical school and residency, with attending physicians who are a part of the patriarchy of medicine, caused Dr. Sapna to develop a stutter and tremor, despite being one of the most studious, caring doctors I've ever met!

When work oppresses you, chronic disease can develop, especially when you can't express your true authentic self. And Dr. Sapna discusses how academic medicine is about ego, not about being a student of life. And how the patients suffer because of it. 

She describes all the tragic events and the stress of becoming a doctor led her to develop a spiritual practice of meditation combining her Catholic upbringing with Buddhism and meditation. 

Dr. Sapna is a true authentic physician who truly wants to help her patients. She's the most incredibly caring soul I've ever met. And I'm so thankful for her presence, her friendship, and her love to help others.
