15 mg of saffron twice a day has shown improvement in depression and PMS symptoms after two menstrual cycles. Cautiously use this under the direction of your provider as it may interact with blood pressure medications, especially a specific type called calcium-channel blockers. Poisoning may occur at doses greater than 5000 mg. Other side effects may include anxiety, appetite changes, drowsiness, or gastrointestinal symptoms.
